Rose Dorothy Dauriac Is Scarlett Johansson's Oldest Child and Daughter - Facts about Her

Publish date: 2024-06-14

Rose Dorothy was born to Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson and French journalist Romain Dauriac. Her mother protects her privacy but drops a few curated anecdotes of her precocious offspring when she is on the talk show circuit promoting a new project.

Scarlett Johansson came to age in the public eye as a child star in the 90s. It does not look like this is the path she wants for her daughter Rose Dorothy. At home, the Avenger is just a mom but admits that "Black Widow" comes out when her kid needs cheering.

The actress does not allow images of her daughter and lives by example without social media accounts. Her husband takes her lead by not posting anything about his stepdaughter or wife.

Birth of Rose Dorothy

Like her famous mom, Rose Dorothy was born in New York City in 2014. Her middle name is a tribute to her maternal great-grandmother, who her mother called the "first Francophone" in her family.

Her first name, Rose, links her to baby brother Cosmos in a special way. Johansson got pushback from her mother-in-law over the name, but his little sister's blessing sealed the deal. She explained the sweet connection the siblings share:

"They are both flowers. Not a lot of people make that connection. Cosmo is a really sweet little flower that comes in different shades of orange and yellow. That's why my daughter liked it too."

Parents of Rose Dorothy

The "Marriage Story" star and Dauriac got hitched after dating for two years in a secret ceremony on a Montana ranch. Dauriac was a journalist and one-time editor of the magazine Clark.

The Black Widow told Kelly Clarkson her daughter shadowed her, and the mom soaked up the attention.

The former journalist established his independent creative advertising agency. The couple divorced in 2017 and share joint custody of Rose. The actress married her third husband, Colin Jost, a comedian and writer, in 2020.

Connection to mother

The mom shared a nutrition lesson she gained from raising her firstborn. She never has issues getting Rose to eat healthily and believes giving a child options is essential. She said:

"I think [it's best to] just letting kids discover food that way without making it feel like a chore. Everybody has a different palate. I've never tried to force my kid to eat anything she didn't like, and I never tried to hide any foods... "

The Black Widow told Kelly Clarkson her daughter shadowed her, and the mom soaked up the attention, knowing her daughter won't always want to hang out. Months later, she confirmed that Rose is now embarrassed by her, especially when she did a jig on the school run.

Rose is an older sister

Rose became a big sister with the birth of her brother Cosmo on August 18, 2021. Her mom revealed the big sister's attitude about the new role to Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show":

"She has a lot going on in her life. She's got a very active social calendar, so she's not as interested in the baby as I don't know, let's say, like, any other thing really?"

Johansson managed to keep her second baby a secret for most of her pregnancy. Her husband, and first-time dad, spilled the beans during a comedy set a few days before his birth.

Cosmo's dad, Colin Jost, is a Harvard graduate and published author of "A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir." He is a head writer on Saturday Night Live and met his superstar wife when she hosted the show.
